LATAM - South America's Top Airlines

LATAM Airlines is a South American Company incorporated by the Chilean Government with it's headquarters in Santiago, Chile. It has subsidiaries in Peru, Colombia and Ecuador among others. A relatively new airline that was created from a combination of Chile's flagship LAN Airlines and Brazil's national carrier TAM Airlines in 2012, LAN agreed to takeover the Brazilian company, under several conditions that were met by 2014. The original LAN airlines was founded in 1929 by the Chilean government at the time, and consisted of a fleet of Moth planes. Post-war expansion meant the airline began flying international routes, including to Peru and Argentina, and bought its first Boeing aircraft in 1969. LAN became the first company to fly a plane non-stop from South America to Australia.

As of 2015, the fleets of both companies begun the rebranding with new logos and advertising on all flights and lounges to be completed by 2019. After the merger, the capital that was gained allowed LATAM to create new VIP lounges, redecorate cabin interiors and become a cost-effective yet stylish and professional airline.

LATAM was named the world's largest airline company in 2016, thanks to its subsidiaries and many network connections. It flies to over 50 destinations worldwide, offering flights to cities throughout South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. The company currently employs over 55,000 people across its subsidiaries.
