From humble beginnings in 1938, Manchester Airport (IATA: MAN) has grown into the UK's third busiest international airport handling 23.1 million passengers in 2015. Formerly known as Ringway Airport after the district in which it stands, the airport is located some eight miles southwest of downtown Manchester. It is easily accessible from the city via coach, bus, rail and tram. It comprises three terminals, each of which is well served with facilities to ensure a convenient and comfortable departure for all passengers. The airport is home to two runways.
