Discover the nicest neighborhoods in Istanbul
Istanbul: the city where Europe and Asia come together. And you can see that very well in daily life. Wander through the neighborhoods of beautiful Istanbul and experience it for yourself! We have put the best among you together.
Ortakoy
The Ortakoy district used to be a small fishing village in the middle of the Bosphorus. Nowadays it is a lively area to wander through, with nice markets and shops. Also don't forget to drink a cup of tea by the water, watching the boats and people!
Galata
Galata is very busy, with countless shops, cafes and eateries. Indispensable during a trip to Istanbul, if you ask us. Climb the 67 high Galata Tower for a great view of the neighborhood and the river with the large Galata Bridge.
Kadikoy
Once in Istanbul you can of course not skip the Asian side. The modern district of Kadikoy is technically in Asia, and it is fantastic. You will find countless markets with the tastiest food, among other things. Look up the waterfront at sunset and watch the Istanbul skyline light up. Magic!
Belat
For a day full of history, visit the Balat neighborhood, an old Jewish neighborhood. It is very nice to walk through all the colored houses, but a lot has happened in the past. Visit the old churches and mosques for an impression of the past, a special experience. Take good hiking shoes, there are quite a few stairs to climb.
Gülhane Park
Okay, Gülhane park is technically not a neighborhood, but very nice and beautiful! This piece of nature used to be part of the gardens of the Topkapi Palace, and therefore only accessible to the royals. Nowadays you can relax on a picnic blanket or take a walk through all the flower beds. Escape the bustle of the city!
