The best places to visit in Thailand
Beaches, Tuk Tuks, floating markets, temples, beautiful caves, sun, waterfalls, discovery, backpacking, full-moon parties, delicious food, adventure… could there be a better holiday destination than Thailand?
Thailand is a backpacker’s dream, and one of the best places to explore, but here are our top destinations to discover.
1. Koh Samui
Whether you want to party the night away on the beach or enjoy the jaw-dropping nature, Koh Samui has everything. Discover the waterfalls, go diving in Koh Tao (Turtle Island) and visit the Big Buddha. Enjoy a Thai cooking class, go sea kayaking or even a jeep jungle tour to see waterfalls and hidden valleys. Perfect right?
2. Phuket
Ever wanted to go to James Bond Island? The stunning Phang Nga Bay was a film location for The Man with the Golden Gun and is simply amazing. But wait, there’s more to do in Phuket! If you’re looking for crazy nightlife, head to Bangla Road where anything and everything goes.
But if you’re looking for paradise, it has to be Phi Phi Island. The clear turquoise waters are perfect for snorkelling, diving, boat trips, and don’t forget exploring caves and lying on the beach. With both adventure and relaxation, it could not be a better place to explore.
3. Bangkok
One of the most exciting cities in the world with activities galore, Bangkok is a favourite for British tourists and with good reason. Sensational street food, palaces and temples and a nightlife certainly different from popping down the local are just some of the highlights in this megacity.
Whizz down the streets in a tiny Tuk Tuk and sip on a cocktail watching the sunset at one of the cool rooftop bars.
4. Krabi
One of the most interesting temples in Thailand is the Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi with paw prints of tigers on the cave walls and a long climb to get to the top of the Temple. After the trek, you can relax in the Hot Spring Khlong Thom.
Go on one of the many boat trips to Koh Rok Island and don’t miss Railay; only accessible by boat, the sandy beach is hidden between the limestone rock formations and there are plenty of caves and lagoons to explore.
