The celebrations of Diwali actually lasts for a duration of 5 days: 29 October until 2 November 2024. Thousands of people around the world will celebrate the biggest festival in the Hindu Calendar, Diwali, or Deepavali, which in Sanskrit means 'rows of lights' (avali = row; deepa = light).

Celebrating Diwali: Five Days of Celebration

The dates for Diwali changes each year as it is based on the Hindu Lunar calendar, but normally takes place between mid-October and mid-November. For 2024, the actual day of Diwali is 1 November.
