Things to do in Berlin

Looking to do a little shopping?

The shopping scene in Berlin is certainly eclectic. For those looking for mainstream stores in an iconic location, a trip to Alexanderplatz is no doubt in order. While there you can take a trip to the top of the famous T.V tower and get the best views in the city, and afterwards you can shop in the many high-street brand stores situated around the platz. A short train ride away is famed Check-point Charlie, which is a great place to take some memorable photos. If you are looking for sopping a little more uniquely Berlin, you can always try the Mauerpark flea market on Sundays. A sprawling local market filled with a quirky set of stalls and items you're likely to find anywhere, it is also the location of great food stalls and unusual entertainment provided by many different kinds of buskers. While there you can also stop by the Karaoke pit to take in a performance or to be the star of one.

Ready to party!

Many who visit the city throughout the year come here exclusively to party. If you are one of them or just want to try a bit of the techno scene, the landmark of the scene is undoubtedly Berghain. The club is known for two things: great techno and a healthy dose of decadence. Entry is not always guaranteed but it is always worth the adventure. If you don't get in, there are a myriad of other techno clubs that all offer a night you won't forget in a hurry. Not a fan of techno? Then try any of the local bars you'll find throughout the main party district of Kruezberg. Don't forget to get a picture of you and your friends in one of the rare old-style photo booths dotted around this area. It's a tradition and a souvenir all rolled into one.

Eat, drink and be merry

Then you don't have far to look. If you're on a budget, you are never far from a cheap but tasty kebab and a beer from one of the many late night vendors located around the city. If you are looking for the best kebab in Berlin, you'll need to c´queue, but Mustafas on Mehringdamm is well worth the wait. If you are looking for more of a fine-dining experience, a trip to the high-end Mitte district is in order. Here you'll find a variety of up-scale restaurants that still possess the unique vibe of the city.
