No matter what time of year you visit the city, there is sure to be an event or festival in full swing to help immerse you into the culture of the city, and give you an unforgettable experience. You will find that many of the events centre around religious occasions and festivals.

Chinese New Year

This is the most important festival for the large population of Chinese people living in Kuala Lumpur, as well as the whole of Malaysia. The run up to the New Year celebrations will see the streets come alive with dragon and lion dances, acrobatics and fake cherry blossoms, whilst the skies become awash with red lanterns. Traditions include buying new clothes as a sign of a fresh new year, and open house parties where everyone is welcome.

Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

This annual event really is one not to be missed. An array of brightly coloured balloons take to the skies above the city, providing you with the perfect opportunity to take some truly unique shots of the landscape. Occurring in March, balloon enthusiasts from over 13 countries attend to take part in the event.

Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival

Famous around the world, the Carnival is an event where up to 70% is slashed off the price of various merchandise and fashion items. In conjunction with the mega sale, which attracts tourists from all around the world, is the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week. The carnival is held over three days, and includes everything from luxury brand named goods, to the latest mobile phones.
