Ibiza, known for its vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, and rich cultural history, offers a variety of experiences for travelers. With over 50 beaches, you are bound to stumble across one of them during your stay in one of the hotels Ibiza offers, whether that be a packed wall-to-wall of bodies or a more remote cove sheltered by a cliff. Birdwatchers love Ibiza too as well as those looking for hiking opportunities.
This Spanish island has so many sides to it that it might be tricky to choose which type of holiday you want. You are spoilt for choice with the amount of hotels Ibiza has as well, from resort high-rises to some alternative hotels Ibiza has in the form of agro tourism hotels.
Sant Antoni de Portmany: Famous for its nightlife, Sant Antoni is home to numerous bars, clubs, and lively beaches. It’s the best spot for partygoers looking for affordable hotels and easy access to entertainment.
Ibiza Town (Eivissa): The island’s capital offers a blend of history, shopping, and dining. With its stunning old town (Dalt Vila), boutique hotels, and easy access to cultural sites, Ibiza Town is perfect for those seeking a mix of culture and fun.
Santa Eulalia: A quieter, more sophisticated area with family-friendly beaches, art galleries, and excellent dining. It’s ideal for those looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a touch of luxury.
Playa d'en Bossa: Known for its long sandy beach and beach clubs, Playa d'en Bossa is a hotspot for both day and night activities. Here, you’ll find everything from budget accommodations to luxurious beachfront resorts.
Many of the hotels Ibiza has will have some sort of area where food is served, whether that be a restaurant, cafe or bar. Apart from eating at your hotel Ibiza has many places to tempt you with Spanish fare that has influences of Catalan, Basque and Provencal.
Typical Ibizan dishes include rabbit with red peppers, snails, fish stew and olla fresca, a stew made from haricot beans, broad beans, potatoes and pears. Puddings range from greixonera, a local version of crème caramel, to flao, an aniseed and mint tart, and orlettes, cakes made of dried fruits and sugar.
Ibizan cooking is quite earthy, harking back to a time when the island had to make do with simple and scarce ingredients, hence stews and soups are the mainstays liberally flavoured with herbs and spices.
If you can follow the locals timings for meals, it will make it much easier. The main meal is at lunchtime, around 2pm, when most restaurants offer a menu del dia, a fixed-price three course meal with wine or beer for a great price.
