The beer comes in a Mass, a 1 litre mug. But go easy with the beer - the specially brewed Oktoberfestbier is strong with between 7.5-8.5% alcohol.
So, you want to hit on a German girl? There is one trick to check out if she's single: If the bow on her Dirndl is on the right side it means she is taken or married. If she wears it on the left side go for it - she's single!
If you haven't reserved a table in a beer tent a year in advance, avoid Fridays and the weekends unless you want to line up at 6 am to get in. The best time to go is on a weekday before 4 pm or late in the evening, just before the tents close around midnight.
Be prepared for German Schlager songs like Das rote Pferd or Fliegerlied. There are a lot of cheering traditions like standing on the bench and singing ein Prosit. You might need a few beers first, but then you'll have no problems getting stuck in!
